A Lesson in a "pop" of color for your house!

Over the weekend I was browsing through Living Etc online and came across a fantastic London Home - The Fulham House. Anything with London in the title always catches my eye as I am constantly trying to capture the feeling of when I lived there. When I started this house tour I realized quickly it was not like any other London flat (which are usually fairly small) this one had been expanded and with so many fun, quirky details that I just had to share. The way the muted palette incorporates small "pops" of bright color is a perfect example in how it can be done seamlessly. Take a peek inside with me!

Mirrors flank the fireplace giving the space much need depth. The Peacock Rug gives a shot of movement and energetic color to the room!

An amazing addition of a full glass doorway leads to the outdoor eating area! The Eames like chairs in a deep turquoise are a wonderful mix with stark white and warm wood.

<span class=
The LaMaison Bed makes such a statement with it's soft Parisian white lines, than POW! The striking yellow headboard begs for attention!

<span class=
Notice how the bathroom is void of any big pops of color? Pure relaxation!

Immediately I fell in love with this wallpaper in the lower "WC"! What an accent!

<span class=
It's all in the details and I particularly adore this glass finial on the banister. Such a wonderful welcome detail.

GORGEOUS! This curved sofa with a suzani printed accent fabric is just amazing!

Hope you enjoyed this tour of the Fulham House!

Bring Home Some Spring!

This weekend was glorious here in the Northeast, one of those weekends that just the mere thought of helps you get through the winter. With all the windows in the house open I started to see my space with a new set of eyes and went out scouting for a few accents to bring the spring inside! Take a peak below at some of my potential additions!

The perfect spring table!

After starting off the week with 3 straight days of rain equaling 10" the end of the wee rewarded us with AMAZING 60 degree weather! It's incredible how quickly ones mood can change with the weather. With tomorrow being the first day of Spring (can you hear me jumping up and down? I made it through another winter!!) I thought what better way to celebrate than with this gorgeous tablescape. I came across this over at Once Wed and immediately fell in love, isn't it just pure relaxed perfection? I especially love the colorful quilt laying across the bench!

A lovely addition to a picnic menu would be this delicious raspberry treat from the Fresh New England blog. If you have not been over to visit El's scrumptious baked goods than run over but I warn you your mouth will water!

Enjoy the weekend and the first few days of Spring!

Alison Berger's Bright Idea!

This weekend I came across the truly gifted glass artist Alison Berger while flipping through Forbes Life magazine. Upon seeing her incredible word pendant my mind started to wander with all the rooms I could place it....over a hot tub in the bathroom, the dining room, in the foyer the options just seem to be endless! If you have read this blog for more than one day (or even just minutes if you read the previous post) than you know I completely adore anything that involves home and typography. You can now easily see why I have fallen in love with this light fixture! This particular piece is etched with text translated from DaVinci's sketchbook. Look at how the words dance along the wall! Pure Perfection!

An escape from the rain!

It rained the entire weekend, the wind swept get soaked even with any type of umbrella rain. This Monday I needed a little sunshine escape, let's just say a moment to daydream! This picture fits my daydream right now, I imagine a group of all my favorite people gathered around the table for a casual dinner than retire to the deck for cocktails! Ahh complete bliss! Isn't the vaulted ceiling just stunning? I can only imagine how spectacular it would look at night and of course you know I love the chairs with numbered pillows, very fun! Hope you all have a great (dry) Monday!

Coloring Old Navy Part 2

Earlier today I posted on "Color Time" the perfect Dark Blue, Old Navy from Benjamin Moore. Here are a few additional images to let you see the color in different spaces! This house is the South Beach residence of T Keller Donovan, the incredible interior designer! I adore the clean crispness of the blue and stark white, it just oozes ultra chic beach house! Notice the wicker chairs in the dining room? They are also painted "Old Navy" but this time with a gloss finish. The shutters are a laid back, casual addition to the bedroom and the IKEA shelving unit is perfect for easy beach storage!

Would you use this blue in your home? If so what room?

In my opinion this is one of the best examples of a dark blue I have recently viewed. It's dark while still having some brightness to it. I have been contemplating painting my bedroom a navy blue and this might just be the perfect shade!

The Amazing Collaboration of Kravet & Thom Filicia

Here is a little story about a fabric loving girl, quickly walking through the lobby of the Boston Design Center when her feet came to a screeching hault. I mean literally you could hear the brakes being slammed! This is when I came face to face with gorgeous runs of fabric in amazingly upbeat patterns! Can you believe it was the first peek of the Kravet Thom Filicia collaboration? I was so excited about one particular print that I actually needed to have it for myself not just for another project but for ME!! Feverishly I scoured the internet and found nothing about the collection until I went to twitter and was immediately DMed by the Kravet Team, can we say FABULOUS customer service? The entire line is yet to be released but here are a few patterns available on their website. You know me, I couldn't keep this to myself so here I share what I have found so far!

The ultimate creative - Celerie Kemble

What a perfect way to end a long day than with a glass of red and "Catalog Monday" (or so what Cassie of Coco + Kelley and I have now named it). So when I opened my J Crew and saw THE Celerie Kemble in a fantastic ensemble I was delighted! I love when fashion and interiors collide in such a beautiful way. Along with modeling, Celerie gives us a little insight into why she loves designing for her clients. I admire how she describes the start to every new client as "learning how they live and what defines them"! Sounds so approachable doesn't it? If creating all these beautiful rooms isn't creative enough she also has a gorgeous line of fabrics at Schumacher and a book, one that I can't wait to get my hands on! So take a minute and explore the rooms of Kemble Interiors and than pop over to read her answers to the JCrew questions!

Color Time - Million Dollar Red, Benjamin Moore

Red is a color which evokes drama, movement and calls to pay attention. The one issue with red is finding the perfect shade which will work with the color palette of your home. If chosen incorrectly red can take on a childish or cave like feeling. Below is a fantastic option as it is warm and sophisticated all at the same time!

Do you have a red room in your home? Please share the color name below!

Wood + Metal = Brickmaster's Table Trend

A steel base and planks of wood can make one gorgeous table. I first saw this trend at Restoration Hardware with their classic Brickmaker's Table than similar images started to pop up around the web. The table was originally used in Belgium as a hard surface to cool and cut bricks, with a sturdy steel base it was the perfect solution. Though beware if you are not Popeye strong to move a 200lb table this might not be for you! Scouting the net I have found a few alternates that will give you the same look and not break the bank or your back!

Brickmaster's Table, very handsome and weighs 200lbs!

Monday Morning Happy

Morning! Well this Monday post is a bit different than the one I thought I would be writing. I expected to be telling you about my fantastic long weekend in NYC visiting Amy, Lydia & Emily. Unfortunately Mother Nature had other plans for me as she decided to dump 20" of snow on the city. I think it is beautiful to look at, though I would not be as excited as this girl below to be out in it. So my NYC trip to meet three new friends in person will just have to wait a few more weeks. The bright side is I had a ridiculously relaxing weekend filled with cooking, movies and lounging around the apartment. I feel completely rejuvenated and ready to hop back into the crazy pace of my design/work life.

How was your weekend? Were you stuck in the snow or is it sunny and warm where you are?
Enjoy this new week!
